The Soda Fire, an interstate fire that started in Oregon and burned into Idaho, achieved Megafire status about 48 hours after it was reported August 10. This wildfire ended up consuming almost 280,000 acres in just over a week and at its apex was being fought by over 400 crews from numerous departments as well as the Bureau of Land Management and private contract agencies.
